Joel Sandelson is a conductor building an international reputation for his dynamic performances and insightful, distinctive interpretations. Current engagements include main season performances with BBC Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Copenhagen Philharmonic.
At home in a wide range of symphonic works, he has particularly strong connections to the music of Classical and Romantic composers from Haydn and Mozart to Schumann and Brahms, as well as later 19th-century and early modernist repertoire, including Mahler, Sibelius, Rachmaninov, Elgar, Debussy, Ravel, Stravinsky and Schoenberg. Also a keen advocate for contemporary composers, this season he conducts premieres of works by Nicola Campogrande and Hannah Kendall.
